GOODBYE, PORTLAND!

My final day in Portland was pretty crazy. I had a pretty tight schedule and somehow managed to stay on schedule for most of the day. I squeezed in a lot of things I wanted/needed to do, but my main priority was to have dinner with my parents on my last night.

MY AGENDA:

(Almost) Just as I found it 4 years ago

09:00am: Patch holes in the walls, vacuum, clean bathroom, take out loads of trash, finish packing, load car

10:30am: Drive to parents’ home, unload car

Not pictured: Sofi

11:00am: Drop off car (to sell)

11:30am: Drive home with little bro to load his car for donation run

12:00pm: Final donation drop off

12:30pm: Spend quality time with Val, Sofi and Vivi

04:30pm: See Hayley/dinner at Bamboo Sushi in Downtown, Portland

Bánh patê sô AKA pâté chaud: Vietnamese savory puff pastry

05:30pm: Drive to deep SE Portland, pick up patê sô’s from HeyChaudy

Kulfi: Indian ice pops

06:30pm: Drive to NE Portland, see Kiran and pick up Kulfi

The last of my keys!

07:00pm: Drive home, turn in my keys, say goodbye to roommate

Anything my mom makes is the best

07:30pm: Deliver convection oven to Arushi’s parents (final delivery from stuff I sold)

08:00pm: Drive to parents’ home, unload the car, dinner with my family, pack

Me with all my belongings in my empty room

Phew! It was quite a day! I saw a lot of people, ate a lot of amazing food, and had quality time with loved ones. It was a little hectic and slightly stressful trying to make everything on time, but I’m glad I could make it all work.

My last week in Portland wasn’t as relaxing as I hoped it would be. I could’ve used a couple extra weeks off of work to focus on selling my things and seeing my friends… BUT! I DID IT! I can’t believe my apartment is empty and I no longer have a home or a car. I’m ready for my next chapter!

THE FINAL WEEKS IN PORTLAND

My time in Portland has been amazing, especially the last year. I’m grateful for having been able to develop great connections and create a little community in the food scene, and I feel more deeply rooted here than ever before. It feels great to leave my hometown on this note.

Thank you to every single one of you, regardless of duration or intensity of our connection, for making my life in Portland a memorable one. Thanks for making time to see me before I go. I love and appreciate all of you!
